Hey everyone, just wanted to let you know that the group website is pretty much done. I took what Hannah had done in web expression and put it on google sites. You can find the link on my website under group work called Group Website. The only link I wasn't able to attach was our exercise video it was apparently too large so we'll have to take a look at that and get it working by Tuesday. Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Booklet
The booklet is really coming together nicely, all the different parts are really well thought out and everyone put a lot of time into there parts and it really shows. We could not have picked a better topic to do a project on. All the group members are doing a great job. Exercising is a great topic to do a project like this on.

Second Half Here we Come!
Hey Everyone. I hope you all had a great break and were able to relax! Hannah you are doing an excellent job! I wanted to say that I went to the multi-tasking extra credit assignment and I loved it! It was very useful to me too because my boyfriend is a driver's educatin teacher and he was able to use those statistics in his classroom. That made me very happy because he can show highschool students before they begin to drive how cell phone usage and driving can kill or injure someone innocent.I have been working on the booklet and as soon as it is done I will send it to all of you. If you have any suggestions for the booklet just let me know! I will try to add it in. So far Hannah and Courtney and myself have been completing most of the work and I just wanted to say great job girls! It has been a good, smooth, easy going group!
The start of the second half!
Hey everybody. I hope you all had a fabulous semester. I just wanted to remind everybody as to what they are completing for the 4 projects. I am completing the powerpoint presentation, miranda is completing the booklet, evan is completing the newsletter, and finally, courtney is completing the poster. Remember, we should all be contributing the information and work to help each other complete our projects to the best of our ability. Please post any concerns each of you may or may not have. Have a great week everybody!

Multi-Tasking
For the introduction, the presenters provided two different cartoons that provided explanations for multitasking. We had briefly discussed women commonly being the multitasker within the past years. The question they had asked the audience is “Are we really capable of multitasking?”
It’s difficult to believe that we understand the human mind with the human mind. It can be overwhelming that to we actually do operate like this. The presenter had mentioned that it is easy to understand the human mind by using technology. The scenario of a pianist playing Rondo Alla Turca was provided for the audience. The presenter had asked if this would be considered multitasking or is it considered something else.
We are doing something more profound, we are parallel processing with our multiple resources that depend on handling tasks independently. Human beings can parallel process but are not terrible at multitasking, provided by the PowerPoint presentation. Richard Feynman could read while counting in his head, although he was unable to talk. Prof John Tukey could talk while counting in his head, although he was unable to read. These are examples of parallel process and how we are able to comprehend information.
A study was done on college students and they received the following: 93% reported they multitasked by engaging in non-computer activity as well as 93% said they chatted and did schoolwork at the same time. Their school work had suffered because of multitasking.
Multitasking may also be called dual-tasking yet it deals with how you are paying attention, and what you are focusing on. Our attention span is limited and so we need to pay attention to one thing or another, which results in opportunity cost. The presenter provided a scenario for using our cell phone while driving. He provided statistics about how this was one way people multitasked.
In conclusion, the presenters gave the audience a very widespread version of what multitasking is and how it affects us. It was very interesting to understand who does it, why they do it, and how they do it. Many people multitask without even knowing they are doing it. If students would recognize that they are multitasking, and that the multitasking was affecting their grade, they may change their mind as to what they focus on.
